Thierry Métroz, the chief designer for Citroën’s upmarket sub-manufacturer DS Cars, not too long ago explained to Autocar that he’s wanting to “revolutionize” automobile interiors by ridding them of the ever-growing and duplicating screens.

“It’s a massive craze at the second to have [a lot of] screens, but I consider it’s a tiny little bit silly, due to the fact in actuality to have not any additional dashboard, only a major display screen, isn’t our philosophy inside DS,” Métroz instructed Autocar. “Our target is to delete all the screens in our upcoming interiors… The dilemma with the display screen is when you change off your screen, you’re just left with a rectangular black floor with all the fingerprints. Though not rather prepared with a resolution, the designer suggests he’s hoping for a little something “less intrusive” that adds “more serenity.” “Of program we require to supply the information and facts for the driver,” he claimed. “It’s a huge problem.”

Could Métroz’s cars and trucks of the foreseeable future feature holographic projection that function with gesture management maybe, or some other augmented truth answer?

It’s unclear where this could go, but like the change to electrification which is offering exterior designers a new blank slate to operate with, Métroz seems pleased with the obstacle. “It’s a pretty thrilling instant for designers.”
