AMG versions of the Mercedes EQE are available for sale. The Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4Matic costs 103,827.50 euros and the top model Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic is priced at 109,777.50 euros, being only 6,000 euro more expensive.
Mercedes has announced the prices for the two AMG versions of the EQE and between them there is a price difference of only 6,000 euros even though the power difference is more than 200 HP (203 ps).
Thus, the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4Matic develops 476 HP (483 ps) and 858 Nm (633 lb ft) and costs 103,827.50 euro. The top model Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic develops 626 HP (635 ps) and 950 Nm (701 lb ft) (687 hp (697 ps) and 1000 Nm (738 lb ft)) with the AMG Dynamic Plus package. Both use permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM).
Both models have fast accelerations: 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds for the EQE 43 4Matic and 3.5/3.3 seconds for the EQE 53 4Matic but there is a condition in both cases. The battery needs to be 50% and 70% charged respectively to enjoy these fast accelerations. Top speed is limited to 210 km/h respectively 220/240 km/h.
AMG Ride Control adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering with a 3.6-degree rear-axle steering angle are standard.
The adaptive suspension is based on the AMG EQS and AMG GT 4-door coupe system and features two so-called pressure limiting valves, one for the rebound phase and one for the compression phase. Both valves work independently of each other, allowing a wider range of adjustment between Comfort and Sport mode.
In S and S+, the suspension is 15 mm lower, while in Comfort, it only drops to the same level above 120 km/h and returns when the speed drops below 80 km/h.
The driver can choose between five ride programmes: ‘Slippery’, ‘Comfort’, ‘Sport’, ‘Sport+’ and ‘Individual. These programmes not only modify the engine response but also the amount of power delivered as follows:
Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4Matic | Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic+
Slippery | 50% output (175 kW) | 50% output (230 kW)
Confort | 85% output (300 kW) | 80% output (368 kW)
Sport | 90% output (325 kW) | 90% output (414 kW)
Sport+ | 100% output ( 350 kW) | 100% output (460 kW)
race Start | 100% output (350 kW) | 100% output (460 kW)
race Start with boost function | not available | 110% power (505 kW) |
Mercedes wanted to make its electric sports models more attractive and offers several sound types that can be accessed in any driving mode: “Balanced”, “Sport” and “Powerful”. The Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic with the AMG Dynamic Plus package has an additional Performance mode.
The AMG Dynamic Plus package (€4,760) includes a 110% power boost in Race Start mode, Performance sound feature and increased top speed from 220 to 240 km/h.
The Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic+ comes standard with 20-inch alloy wheels in a twin spoke design and Digital Light headlights. The seats are upholstered in Artico artificial leather combined with microfibre and red topstitching. Nappa leather upholstery costs an extra €2,701.30.
The Burmester 3D Surround audio system costs 868.50 euro. The Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic comes standard with the 11.9-inch portrait screen and you can order the famous Hyperscreen but is very expensive – 8,568 euro. As we noticed in the EQS 580 4Matic test, the Hyperscreen (standard on the EQS 580 4Matic) does not have a better resolution than the standard screen.
Two types of 21-inch wheels (1,071 euro and 2,023 euro) can also be ordered as an option, and the option for the 21 inch wheels can be combined with the ceramic disc brakes (4,998 euro extra).
Both models have the same 90.6 kWh battery and in this case, the + sign placed after 4Matic does not signify the presence of a larger battery as in the case of EQS but stands “for the whole additional performance and dynamism” like Merrcedes declare.
