The Japanese car maker Nissan started operation way back in 1933. Plenty of new cars have been rolled out from the company’s stables since that year. However, in India, operations did not begin that early. Only years after its venture in Japan, one sunny day Nissan suddenly realized that the Indian car market too had a lot of potential. The car maker performed a thorough research on the Indian market, and finally, in 2004, the Nissan X-Trail set foot on the Indian roads. The compact SUV that had broken all records in the global market was brought to the Indian market in 2004. Its excellent on-road performance continued on the Indian roads as well. The car’s, chic interiors and best-in-class 4×4 capabilities amazed Indians. The power-packed 2.2 litre dCi diesel motor, washable rear luggage board and inventive practical touches like the chilled drink holders added more fame to the car’s reputation in the Indian market.

After tasting enough success of the Nissan X-Trail, the car make made other smart moves in India to fortify its presence and set up a strong vendor base. In 2007, the Nissan Teana car came in with a big bang. This Nissan car was completely imported from Japan with a perfect blend of balanced proportion, futuristic luxury interior, riding comfort, and excellent performance to suit the needs of the Indians and also the rough and humpy roads in India. The strong and smooth 2349cc VQ23DE V6 petrol engine made the car a major hit. Teana’s engine has been one of the ten best engines for 13 consecutive years as per Ward’s Auto World magazine.

Not just these two cars, Nissan has also launched its 370Z in India. It has been conceived as an “Everyday Sports Car”, bringing to life the sweet spot of performance, style and value, which symbolizes the genetic material in all Nissan cars. With cutting-edge technology, the car is high on safety too. The car’s stylish looks have captured the Indian hearts too and the sales have further boosted Nissan’s confidence in the Indian market. The car maker has gone as far as planning the production of a car within the country. The new car, Nissan Micra will be developed at the Chennai plant in India and will be sold both in the country and overseas.

Nissan Motors has been doing pretty well in the country and now has plans of rolling out plenty more new car models on the Indian roads. Since its debut in India in 2004, Nissan has witnessed a growth of over 200 per cent. The sales figures too show steep climbs. Nissan’s journey from Japan to India has proved to be a big success.
